Union of Syrian Alawites Holds Talks with German Parliament Representatives

A formal meeting was held today between the Union of Syrian Alawites in Europe and several representatives of political parties in the German Parliament (Bundestag). During the meeting, the Union delegation discussed the issue of the suffering of the Alawite community in Syria, and the systematic exclusion and oppression its members have faced, which in some areas reached the level of ethnic cleansing, as confirmed by independent human rights reports.

During the meeting, the delegation presented a documented archive that includes testimonies from survivors, and reports from local and international human rights organizations. These documents record massacres and violations against the Alawite community over the past years.

A number of fair demands were also presented, including:

🔴 Opening safe and special asylum paths for Alawites who are at risk inside Syria because of ongoing violations and lack of protection.

🔴 Giving the Alawite community official political representation abroad, with German support and participation, to help raise their voice internationally.

🔴 Providing international protection for Alawites in conflict areas inside Syria and working to prevent such crimes from happening again.

Ways to work with the concerned German authorities were also discussed to deliver these demands to European and international institutions. The goal is to secure legal and humanitarian support for affected people inside Syria and in exile, and to push for independent and transparent investigations into the crimes committed.

This meeting is considered an important step in the Union’s efforts to break the international silence, raise awareness about the suffering of the Alawite community, and call for justice and recognition of what happened as serious violations that could be considered crimes against humanity.
